Darb is the road toll system of the Integrated Transport Centre – Department of Municipalities and Transport in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and it works without kiosks or barriers.
How it Works
- When passing through the Darb toll gates, all vehicles are identified through the plate number
- The data is sent to the Darb system and processed.
- The approved policies and regulations for the Toll Gates are applied.
There is no need to purchase an external tag and apply it to the vehicle windshield.
DARB Registration
The registration requirements are as follows
- The traffic file number code of the person or company.
- The Emirates ID of the account holder.
- An active personal email if you are registering a personal account, preferably to use the establishment mail when registering an establishment account.
- Mobile number registered with the traffic file number.
Cost
The registration fee per vehicle is 100 dirhams, as follows
- 50 AED is a registration fee and 50 AED is a balance for passing toll gates that will be deposited in the financial wallet of the user account.
DARB Tolling of Abu Dhabi Peak Time
Tolling fees will be applied on all vehicles that pass the tolling gates in peak hours only.
The following are the peak hours
Morning Peak Hours
- The morning peak hours start from 07:00 AM and end before 09:00 AM.
- All vehicles that pass tolling gates in this duration will be charged 4 AED for each transaction.
Evening Peak Hours
- The evening peak hours start from 05:00 PM and end before 07:00 PM.
- All vehicles that pass tolling gates in this duration will be charged 4 AED for each transaction.
DARB Tolling of Abu Dhabi Holidays
All vehicles passing through the tolling gates are exempted from the traffic fees on public holidays as the following:
Friday Holiday
- All vehicles passing through the tolling gates are exempted from the tolling fees on Fridays.
Public Holiday
- All vehicles passing through the tolling gates are exempted from the traffic tolling fees during announced public holidays in the United Arab Emirates.
DARB Tolling of Abu Dhabi Exemptions
Vehicles passing through the tolling gates are exempted from the traffic tolling fees in the following cases:
Automatically Exempted Vehicles (Without Exemption Request):
- Ambulances, armed forces, and civil defense vehicles are holding their numbers and logo.
- Public transport buses.
- Motorcycles.
- Authorized public taxi vehicles in Abu Dhabi.
- Authorized school buses by Integrated Transport Center.
- All passenger buses (capacity has been specified by the licensing authority for 26 passengers and above).
- Vehicles holding the logo and numbers of Abu Dhabi Police, Ministry of Interior, or other Local Emirates Police.
- Trailer vehicles.
Exempted Vehicles by Exemption Request:
Special Needs Vehicles Exemption
- One vehicle that has approved exemption requests passing through the tolling gates which are owned by special needs people is exempted from the tolling fees after submitting an exemption request for each vehicle through the tolling system.
Family Limited Income Vehicles Exemption
- One vehicle that has approved exemption requests passing through the tolling gates which are owned by limited income people are exempted from the tolling fees after submitting an exemption request for each vehicle through the tolling system.
Senior Citizen Vehicles Exemption
- One vehicle that has approved exemption requests passing through the tolling gates which are owned by senior citizens is exempted from the tolling fees after submitting an exemption request for each vehicle through the tolling system.
Retired Citizen Vehicles Exemption
- One vehicle that has approved exemption requests passing through the tolling gates which are owned by retired citizens is exempted from the tolling fees after submitting an exemption request for each vehicle through the tolling system.
DARB Tolling of Abu Dhabi Daily and Monthly Caps
Daily and monthly caps will be applied on vehicles passing tolling gates in the peak hours outside the holidays as the following:
Daily Caps
- The daily cap fee for individuals’ vehicles passing tolling gates in the peak hours outside the holidays is 16 AED.
Monthly Caps First Vehicle
- The monthly cap fee for an individual’s first vehicle passing tolling gates in the peak hours outside the holidays is 200 AED. Individuals can be able to re-order their vehicles (The new reordering will take a place in the next month)
Monthly Caps Second Vehicle
- The monthly cap fee for an individual’s second vehicle passing tolling gates in the peak hours outside the holidays is 150 AED. Individuals can be able to re-order their vehicles (The new reordering will take a place in the next month)
Monthly Caps Third Vehicle
- The monthly cap fee for an individual’s third vehicle passing tolling gates in the peak hours outside the holidays is 100 AED. Individuals can be able to re-order their vehicles (The new reordering will take a place in the next month)
DARB Tolling of Abu Dhabi Fines
The fines will be applied and calculated in the tolling gate system as the following:
Unregistered Vehicle Fine for the First Day Passing
- A fine will be issued with the amount of 100 AED for unregistered vehicles after passing the tolling gate for the first time when the grace period ends (Ten working days) starting from the passing date without registering the vehicle.
Unregistered Vehicle Fine for the Second Day Passing
- A fine will be issued with the amount of 200 AED for unregistered vehicles after passing the tolling gate for the second time when the grace period ends (Ten working days) starting from the passing date without registering the vehicle.
Unregistered Vehicle Fine for the Third Day Passing
- A fine will be issued with the amount of 400 AED for unregistered vehicles after passing the tolling gate for any passes after the second pass when the grace period ends (Ten working days) starting from the passing date without registering the vehicle.
Insufficient Balance Fine
- A fine will be issued with the amount of 50 AED for each transaction in case of insufficient balance for vehicles that hold a plate number that is not related to Abu Dhabi after the grace period ends (Five working days) without sufficient balance in the assigned wallet for the vehicle.
Manipulation Fine
- A fine will be issued in the amount of 10,000 AED for manipulating the vehicle’s license plate to evade the payment of traffic fees
Damaging Fine
- A fine will be issued in the amount of 10,000 AED for damaging any of the electronic payment machines or toll gates.

- Toll gates are located on main bridges leading to Abu Dhabi City which are: Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Bridge, Al Maqtaa Bridge, and Mussafah Bridge.

- No, each person/company will have one account associated with the traffic code of the person/company, and all vehicles will be automatically retrieved upon registration, from vehicles page the individual user will be able to choose the vehicles to be select one or many vehicles to register the vehicles one time, and for the establishment account, the establishment user can register all the vehicles by clicking on register all vehicles button from vehicles page.
