Visa Types

1. Immigration Visa

Immigrant visas are issued to foreign nationals who intend to live permanently in the Philippines.

2. Non- Immigration Visa

A nonimmigrant visa (NIV) is issued to a person with permanent residence outside the Philippines but wishes to be in the Philippines on a temporary basis for tourism, medical treatment, business, temporary work, or study, as examples.

This temporary visa allows you to visit, study, stay and work as long as you remain a Philippines citizen.

  • Children below 18 years of age may be included as dependents to your application for RA 9225.

  • For visa extension requirements, kindly bring your passport and submit a filled-out visa extension form (TVS-C-VE-2016) at any BI office.

3. May I send a representative on my behalf to file my visa extension?

  • You may send a representative to file for your visa extension given that you will provide a Special Power of Attorney (SPA).

4. How many days should I allow for the filling of my visa extension to avoid overstaying?

  • You may file for your visa extension application seven (7) days before your Temporary Visitors’ visa expires.
