I am writing about my experience and my stay at your resort. I have been to Jamaica many times and have stayed at many different resorts. We usually travel with a group of 10-12 people. This last week we traveled to Riu Palace Tropical Bay and it was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a resort. The first night we arrived, I closed the night curtain in our room and found 2 giant cockroaches. Of course I screamed and ran to kill it, when I returned they fell to the floor and disappeared under the couch. That was absolutely not what I wanted to find in our room. The next morning I found one in our bathroom and I killed it (I have the picture) the other was never found.
Day 2 on our trip we visited the pool bar and had lunch at the jerk chicken hut. I went to get back into the pool and slipped on ledge getting in. The tile was very slippery. I some how managed to hit my heal on the pool and instant pain to my foot. I made it back to our room hopping on one foot all the way back to Villa 0 which is the furthest Villa in the resort. I passed so many workers and not one asked to help or for assistance. That night I iced my foot and waited till morning for the “doctor” to open. My husband went down to see if he could get me a wheel chair or crotches. No wheel chair available, but she did have crotches. My husband brought them back and they were Youth size that went to size 5.2. I’m 5’10 in height. We have to return the crotches as they were to small for me. She had nothing to offer me. No adult size available. At that point we had 3 more days left of the trip and I couldn’t wait to go home I was in so much pain. Each day I would hop to breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not one worker offered to help me at all. The luggage guy went by me once and I asked if I could jump on. He told me no because he would be fired!! Where is the compassion?? No compassion at all with any workers at this resort. When I returned to the states. I received medical care to find that my Calcaneus bone (heel) is fractured. I couldn’t believe I hopped around for days with a fractured foot and couldn’t get medical attention from a resort that is opening many more locations.
It surprises me that workers could come up and nag me to book an excursion but could careless about a person well being.
I’m very disappointed in the medical care offered and workers at this resort. This is not the experience I expected to have. I would hope that my experience would help you make sure this doesn’t happen to another guest. Stock your medical supplies at each of your resorts and show some compassion to injuries people.
